  1. Pros

No 2 days are the same, lots of variety in the work, dynamic team, clearly defined culture of inclusion, international networking opportunities, meaningful work

    Cons

Because no 2 days are the same - you must be flexible (it can be a blessing or a curse some times!)

    Pros

    - Disney tickets - Merged with National Geographic Live so you might get a chance to work on an interesting National Geographic project

    Cons

    - Bungling leadership - Toxic positivity drowns out any chance of improvement - Leadership dismissive to criticism - Drab office - Constant employee turnover - Directionless and visionless - On the verge of irrelevance - Only "yes people" succeed here - Nearly every leader is unqualified for their job - Every person from top to bottom is set up to fail

  4. Former Employee, more than 1 year

    Pros

Gained a lot of experience in event planning, client services, administrative assistance, and became more business savvy in this role.

    Cons

You were blatantly told that there was no career path for this role. You were expected to take on the role of an event manager for horrible pay. One of my coworkers needed to get an additional job to make ends meet.

    Pros

Working for disney, get to go to the parks for free, part of a community

    Cons

bad leadership, doesn't uphold the values they teach, doesn't pay well

  6. Current Employee, more than 8 years

    Pros

Incredibly smart, passionate and dedicated people - we are surrounded by the "best of the best" within Disney! Supportive co-workers within my small team, very much feels like a family. I feel everyone is respected, valued and very much appreciated here. Executive leadership is very approachable and open to listening to feedback, often taking positive action based on that feedback. Great work-life balance which is supported from leadership. I get to work from home a couple days of week, which I really appreciate and it makes a difference in my personal life. I feel that I'm fairly compensated for my level, tenure and expertise. Strong benefits package with lots of great perks that I value.

    Cons

Very full plate of responsibilities that are constantly changing/shifting depending upon the business needs and direction from the highest executive levels (above our Disney Institute team). It's very difficult to prioritize and re-prioritize my workload when "everything is a priority." There is a never-ending (typically an 18-24 month cycle) of organizational re-structuring, which is VERY inefficient, as it causes lots of frustration and chaos. Disney demands (as it should) a very high level of excellence and people are expected to consistently produce results. At times, this can be very stressful/high pressure.

    Pros

I look forward to coming to work each day, and feel my hard work and contributions are valued. We do work very hard, but work-life balance is also very important to this team (and is strongly supported from upper management). There is great respect among co-workers; people are valued for their expertise and what they bring to the table. All Cast Members, no matter their level, are provided tremendous training/personal growth/development opportunities to continue improving their personal skills and grow within the Walt Disney Company. My favorite part of working for Disney Institute is the opportunity to teach other business professionals and organizations the very "best of the best" Disney business philosophies and practices to help them improve their own businesses. What an honor!

    Cons

We do work very hard, and everyone has a lot on their plates. Inter-team/inter-departmental communication could always improve (but that's a reality in every organization).

    Pros

The Disney brand stands on its own, and can always open many doors. The collaborative spirit and execution in project work is outstanding. A great teamwork attitude.

    Cons

Leadership alignment can be challenging at times. Communication is a weak spot, and could use general improvement from leadership to DI stakeholders.

    Pros

Had a fantastic leader; people were amazing - I actually still keep in touch with some of them; always was encouraged to grow and had the support to do it.

    Cons

More work than hours in the day but most places are like that now.

  10. Current Employee, more than 8 years

    Pros

It is an amazing business with passionate cast members who create and execute culture transformative solutions for their clients.

    Cons

Executive and Director level leadership does not live the values that Disney Institute communicates. They continue to lose valued Cast Members because of the lack of trust and care exhibited by Leadership. In other words, they do not 'walk the talk'. It becomes more difficult everyday to advise clients and give examples of Disney best practices when they are not part of the reality at Disney Institute.
